Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the MMORPG.
By Med • Jul 22nd, 2009 • Category: UncategorizedSam Raimi. To most, he is the well known Hollywood director of the summer blockbuster Spider-Man series. But to some he is the creator of one of the finest B-grade horror films in the history of the genre, The Evil Dead, and with it what could be the greatest character to ever grace the screen, Ashley J. “Ash” Williams. Nary a drunken evening goes by when Heathens congregate without at least a quote or two from this icon of cool; from the philosophically profound - “Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the gun” - to the romantic, “Gimme some sugar, baby.”

These days any self respecting Heathen gets through the day secure with the knowledge that Mr. Raimi was actually tragically killed shortly after the release of Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness and has since been replaced by Michael Bay in a mask. Should any of you doubt this theory after seeing the utterly disappointing Spider-Man 3, point you to this latest news. That’s right, the man who once wrote a scene in which a man cuts off his own hand to stop it from kicking his ass is taking a stroll into the bailiwick of such luminaries as Uwe Boll to direct the film adaptation of World of Warcraft.
For those of you who may not know, World of Warcraft is what is referred to as a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), or what pimple-faced teenage geeks call a social life after getting beat up AGAIN in school instead of what we used to do which was go home to watch B-grade horror films and look at porn while quoting Evil dead movies…
…I digress. Anyway, who knows? Maybe he’ll do a good job? In any case who wants to start taking bets on how many people show up to the theater in costume?
What do YOU think?

Funny, I always thought he died PRIOR to Army of darkness and was replaced by a gaggle of Movie exec midgets in a Raimi suit. At least there is talk of an Evil Dead IV in the works (though Campbell is getting a might pudgy for the part, judging by his Burn Notice role).
Well Fade, while I agree that AoD was a bit of a departure in that it abandoned any attempt at horror and fully embraced the schtick it was still very much a Raimi/Campbell film. In fact some of my favorite Ash one liners come from that installment.
